Today, I went to the doctor and found out that I am infertile. When I called my boyfriend of 2 years, with whom I was hoping to have a future, to talk to him about it, all he said was, "So does this mean I don't have to wear a condom anymore?" FML

He was pretty insensitive if he knew you wanted to have kids. Although the no condom thing is good news.

He's just looking on the positive side

well, that is a logical question yanno. but still

Wait, you mean someone responded to an uncomfortable situation with a quip? THAT NEVER HAPPENS! FYL for being infertile, that sucks. But your boyfriend's reaction is at most a bit insensitive, certainly not anything to be really worried about.

whoa now....in all fairness that is one of the first things that jumps into a guys head. And to be honest you should be rejoicing that he isn't breaking up with you because he wants kids someday and you cant give them to him.

I honestly would have said something similar. It was his way of letting you know he was okay with it.

That may have been something insensitive but maybe not - I don't know how he said it and how you told the news to him. Yes I kinda agree with #153, and plus its not like he was just caring for himself but probably that he was caring for the safety of you both...still he should wear it because of STDs

A lot of the comments here are infuriating, but I'll be a good girl and not reply. OP, I really do feel for you. That's crushing news to receive, and hopefully your boyfriend copped on to that and did something to make you feel better and reassure you a bit more. I know a lot of people have said it already, but you hear hundreds of stories of 'infertile' women conceiving, so there's always hope. Even if you're not one of those women, you can still adopt and give a child a better life. You can still have a family, and at least you won't have to worry about unplanned pregnancy (that might not feel like much of a silver lining, but at least when you choose to start a family you can prepare on your own terms). I wish you all the best.

lol. nice. but i would consider that a good thing. u dont have to worry about accidental pregnacies. and it feels better without the condom. lmao!! u could always adopt or do wat they did on that movie Baby Mama. haha but best of luck to both of you's

#28 is a moron. OP, so sorry to hear this. How he reacted was very hurtful but maybe he just didn't know what else to say... There's always adoption and surrogacy.

hehe, glad to see he has a sense of humor about the whole situation :D
