Today, I sliced my finger open because my roommate's girlfriend put a broken ceramic plate in the recycling. I was putting some paper in the bin and all of a sudden, an inch and a half of my flesh is naked to the world. I don't have medical insurance, so I fixed it with Superglue. FML

You're gonna die. It's gonna get infected. And you will die.

You do know that it's gonna get really infected, rite? You could seriously lose that finger if you don't do something.

i think duct tape is better duct tape fixes everything

superglue is a viable temporary option as people have said before, another possibly option is duct tape, in the british army we carry some in our webbing, tis great for emergency use though like all the non-doctor methods... the main issue is infections so proper cleaning of the wound is needed before hand and required on a regular basis until it is healed

The only thing I can think of is that duct tape will remove any scar tissue when you pull it off, causing the wound to open again. Also, if the wound is still bleeding, it will just bubble underneath the duct tape and cause additional pressure. When I got a cut that I should have gotten stitches to close, it didn't stop bleeding for several hours.

you dont close the wound with duct tape, you use strips to simply hold it closed and there are ways of removing it without pulling off the scar tissue

this sounds unbelievable. ppl use superglue for a lot of things but never have I heard for their wounds:; YDI

it's fine to use superglue on small things like cuts or w/e. Just clean it first to help prevent infection.

And that's why the US health system is screwed. In Australia you could either go to a doctor who bulk bills (in which case you pay nothing and medicare covers it all) or (as bulk billing doctors are not terribly common) medicare will still pay for some of it, and something as minor as a couple of stitches would not be terribly expensive.

i totaly agree abouth national healt care. but obama is changing those things, as i recall!

actually super glue isn't bad for wounds, it used to be used in the military back in the day for similar wounds, almostnoike liquid skin.
