Snitch

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I got fired from my job. My manager found Facebook pictures of me drinking underage at a party. He said he didn't want "that kind of image" associated with the business. It was his birthday party. He supplied the booze. FML

Well, too bad you're not living in Austria - drinking is legal at age 16 here. Strange country, indeed... driving at 16, lax gun regulations - but beware if you sip a beer at age 20. Bizarre.

I agree. America is a land of so much freedom in some ways and yet so much restriction in others.

Honestly, I don't understand why the drinking age is so high in the US. You can legally have sex, vote, and drive, but you can't have a beer till you're 21? :/ It seems so idiotic. That said, it was your boss's party. Why would you drink in front of your boss if you know it is illegal? Then to top it all off you put the pictures on Facebook. YDI.

I don't understand it either. Here in Belgium it seems more logical: at 16 you may drink beers and at 18 you may drink the heavy stuff and drive a car. How older, how more responsibility people are able to get.

You know, sometimes people tag you, and it may have been too late for her to delete it. However,if you know that your boss is such a huge morality prick - why did you drink at his party anyways?

29, you forgot that we may also enlist in the military at 18. Yet, no drinky drinky until 21 -_-

True. You can also get married at 18. It's a strange world... :P

Hey genius. Just because he supplied the alcohol doesn't mean you had to drink it.

that didn't mean you had to drink the supplied booze..

If you did not explain to him how blackmail works, you deserve it. He supplied you, a minor, with booze. He is in so much more shit than you are if you go forward to the police. Go back in there and get your job back.

The drinking age is 21 in American due to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Years ago, studies were done that showed most drunk driving accidents happened between the ages of 18-21, so MADD somehow petitioned the government to increase the drinking age to 21, when (theoretically) people were more apt at making the decision not to drink and drive. The federal government doesn't have the power to increase the drinking age directly as that's officially the state's choice. The federal government does, however, offer a high incentive in, I believe, road repair (or something) costs for any state that does use 21 as their drinking age. Obviously, I don't remember this exactly. If you care to know more exact details, google is available. Oh, and I don't agree. I think it's stupid and 18 is the age to go. Other countries have obviously handled that as their drinking age quite well. If we're old enough to get married and die for our country at 18, we're old enough to drink.

Ok, you knew you were underage, yet you chose to drink (you're not the first and you won't be the last) but why, why, why did you think it was a good idea to be photographed, and have the pics put on Facebook for people to see? Also, just because it's his party doesn't mean he intended for underage to be drinking. I imagine he'd also supplied soft-drinks for drivers and underaged etc. Unless he personally supplied you with booze, it's not his fault.
