I wouldn't want her saying it back if she doesn't feel that way. It would just lead to a bigger heartbreak than if she ended things before she says it. (assuming she doesn't feel that way because she had a panic attack)

Good point. My thoughts were that she was having a panic attack from not expecting for him to feel the same way she did, I guess I'm looking at it optimistically.

Don't get me wrong, I hope you are right, I just tend to think of worst case scenarios. I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to love situations, been stabbed in the back too much. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Haha. Yeah OPs comment is almost as ridiculous as someone saying they would rather be dead than live in a world with people who have a genuine problem, which they have no control over, regarding their feelings and how they react to things.
