Today, after taking my clothes out of the washer, I noticed at the very bottom of the washer my boyfriend's USB stick I found a couple of days ago. The USB stick contains his English essay, and his novel he has been working on for almost six months. FML

You can just dry it off in the sun... don't use it for about a week so that it dries thoroughly, then it should work just fine. I really don't understand what all the fuss is about.

Yeah, it should still work once it dries out (flash memory=no moving parts). Should be a lesson to your boyfriend, too—clean out your own damn pockets!

I have a really cheap usb stick that I accidentally washed AND dried - guess what? It was fine. Check these things before posting on fml.

That wouldn't harm it. You could drop it in a hot cup of coffee and it would still work. There's no electricity running through it when it's in water like that so it won't short circuit. I smell a fake.

My USB stick has gone through a washer cycle with no problem... Yeah, let it dry out completely and with some luck it'll probably be fine.

USB key is for easy storage from pc to pc. Not for backup.

run it through the drier, it'll be fine I do it all the time with flash drive, memory cards, etc... Dirty arcade boards actually get a cycle in the dish washer (no detergent)

I accidentally leave my USB in my pocket all the time. If you run it through the drier too and let it air out it should be fine.

USB drives arent that sensitive to water... I have placed mine in the washer several times and it works just fine.... Just let it dry out and it will work trust me..
