Today, as a support worker, I spent 45 minutes making various attempts to calm a violent autistic kid. Just as soon as I was sure the crisis was over, he beat me as hard as he could with the "Things I Can Do When I'm Mad" book I'd given him. FML

I run the office at a company that does similar work. My staff have stories like this all the time. Sorry you had a bad day, OP. But thank you, for devoting your career to helping people. Good support workers are so hard to find, and this is why.

dude really?? autistic people are amazing. my brother is slightly autistic and he does have his moments at time but you gotta know about them to really understand them. maybe op didn't know this kid very well
