Today, I baked a chicken pot pie in the oven. I pulled it out, and noticed a big piece of tasty-looking, flaky pastry had come loose. Without thinking I ripped it off and popped it into my mouth. I HEARD the skin on the inside of my cheeks burn. FML

God, I'm so hungry now. FYL though.

So what does it sound like? Just a general sizzle?

Simple rule in life, don't put hot things in your mouth! Hehe. YDI.

Oh my god, all of you who are saying the OP deserved this are harsh assholes. I mean come on, I am sure all of us have burnt ourselves because we grabbed, ate, or drank something that was super how without thinking... I got hot chocolate one time and without thinking I took a huge sip of it right way.....yeah, that felt good, lol. As far as the OP not feeling how hot the pastry was with their fingers, I did wonder the same thing, but like others suggested, maybe they had an oven mit on, or maybe their fingers are not that sensitive to heat. From handling hot foods for soo many years, my mother-in-law can handle something I think is hot and it doesn't phase her.

#33 What are you, a preschool teacher? Do you go around all day looking for things to mark? Do you give yourself gold stars? Or are you 14? At any rate - get out more. OP - The sneakiest thing is how hot dam tomatoes get after they've been in a microwave - and when they're hiding in leftovers...

Did you not notice it burn your hand either?

didn't you notice it was hot when you picked it up?

AFAIK, the tissues in your mouth regenerate four times faster than your skin, that is, approximately one week as opposed to one month (28 days or so) for skin. But still, YDI for being such a dumbass that you ate something fresh out of the oven. At least blow on it first!

#11 - you beat me to this reference - I was going to say that the OP should not eat things directly from the oven, but should warm them first in a spoon with a candle ;)
