Today, I came home to find my dad crying. Turns out my parents are getting divorced because my mom had an affair. With a teacher at my school. A female teacher. And the school isn't going to fire her because she's a good teacher. Every day at school I'm going to have to see her. FML

Why should the school board fire her? It's the teacher's private life and she's not having an affair with one of the students, so why should it be a problem at school? It's gonna be awkward for you and I understand that you must be really upset about it, but you not liking her shouldn't be a reason for her to lose her job.

Theyre not gonna fire her 'cause shes a woman AND bi/gay. If it was a man sleeping with a students mother, he'd been out on his ass SO fast.

Oh, boo hoo, poor straight white men and "reverse discrimination"... I don't think a male teacher would be fired in this scenario either, unless any sexual activity happened with the student's parent on school grounds. It's unlikely, but not impossible, that these two women first met outside of school before they realized the student/child in common.

Oh FFS; are people seriously suggesting that they're holding back on firing someone because of her sexuality? Do any of you have any awareness of the statistics involved here? Why, exactly, should they fire a teacher for having an affair? Anyone?

On 07/22/2009 at 6:43am - love - by mylifereallyISeffed (woman) - Australia (Victoria) ^^^^ adaultery is not against the law here it against the law to fire anyone because of sexuality and you cant just change classes in our system you are ranked and placed in a class that is for your ranking. ie. math you may have 1, 2, 3, o 4 unit math if your in 3 unit you cant go up cos your not smart enough and cant go down cos its unfair to the others in that class. all the op can do is put up with it or ask/ beg her mum to have her change schools. would be handy to know if it was a public or private school tho. if your in shepparton i would say its normal life in that town.

What reason does the schoolboard, administrator, or even you have to demand the teacher loose her job? This country is already falling behind in education and now we're sopost to dispose of good instructors because they're lesbian? Are you that precious that others need to feel your 'pain' too. Or because she cheated? Things happen, and isn't that more matter between your mother and your father? It's rough, but don't jump to unrealistic ends no matter your age or position.

How the heck is it just between her mother and father when she's part of the family as well? If she's still in school, good chances are that she's still living with them and it's going to affect her life as well.

I think they meant the cheating is between the mother and the father. When they got married they commuted themselves to each other. The teacher did no such thing. Of course this affects op but it's on her mum for cheating not her teacher
