Today, I corrected my mom in front of our family while she was ragging on my 12 year old cousin who got a piercing. She said, "You don't understand you don't have kids, but on the other hand you probably never will!" I have Polycystic ovary syndrome, she is right, I probably never will. FML

Today, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and confided in my mom, after being told I would have trouble having kids. Five minutes later, I hear the whole family laughing about it downstairs. FML

Today, I told my mom I was thinking of having a baby. She told me it was a huge mistake because children cost a fortune, make you miserable, and if she'd had her chance again she would have gotten her tubes tied when she was 18 and saved herself the grief. Gee, thanks mom. FML

Today, my mom had to go off on my grandmother because I don’t have kids yet and she, "wants great grand babies before she dies." My grandmother was going to gift me a baby outfit for me to get another hint. I’m 25 and can’t conceive because of health issues. I may never have my own kids. She knows. FML

Today, my mom asked me out of the blue if I was ever going to consider getting married. It wasn't until after the conversation ended that I remembered my siblings are all either single like I am, or incapable of having children. I am my mother's last hope of becoming a grandma, and she reminds me all the time. FML

I also have PCOS and I had a friend tell me that I should just "hack out" my ovaries cos they were no good. Don't stress. If you have been diagnosed, you'll be treated. Tons of people never even know they have it - that's when it's a problem.

I have PCOS too, I've been medicated since I was 15. Don't worry, with weight loss and a regular doctor visits I've been told that PCOS is not going to affection with reproduction. It was a big concern for me too.

tykoala: I have PCOS too (a LOT of people here seem to...) and before I started medication, I actually WANTED to hack out my ovaries. and not just for three days out of the month; I'd get killer cramps any time of the month. it was insane. edit: dang, FMyLife totally put this in the wrong place.

My mother was told she probably couldn't have children. Now she has two. =P Don't worry so much about "probably". And there's a good chance that if your own mother said that to you, you'd be a better mother than her whether they're your biological children or not.
