Today, I decided I was going to dump my needy girlfriend. I was about to break the news when she stopped me. She showed me her new tattoo she had gotten. Our names, surrounded by a love heart spread across her back. She reckons I should get a matching one. FML

Watch "Fatal Attraction" and you will realize that you are finished. The only way to get away from her is to make her dump you. Gain some weight and take up some habits that disgust her like smoking, drinking or drugs. Be sullen and crabby, especially around her friends and family. Demand that she give up things that are important to you. If she likes her family, try to alienate them, but if she hates them, endear yourself to them. Fart and belch a lot. Shamelessly. It can be done. It may take time and you will have to disgust yourself in the process, but you seem to be stuck with a high-end psycho, so you have to make her feel that she dumped you.

It's a stupid idea to get a tattoo of a boyfriend/girlfriend's name. Because if the two of you break up, then you have to live with a their name on you, making the break-up harder. She really didn't think this through and clearly is deeply in love with you, I hope you will be able to break up with her. If you aren't happy in the relationship then you need to break up with her. None of this is your fault so, although it will be harsh on her so do it gently.

Yes, name tattoos are super dumb, especially of a boyfriend, no matter how much you love them. The OP should still break it off because it's not his fault she got a stupid tattoo. I hope she stays sane afterwards, because if she's so needy that she got that tattoo and you wanted to get rid of her then she might a) go to totally psycho, or b) become suicidal. Watch out for those. Honestly though, I don't think she really loves him at all. She might THINK she does, but either she is so needy that she would have gotten anyone's name tattooed on her back to "show them how much she loves them" and prevent them from leaving without enormous guilt, and/or she's just plain creepy and obsessed. Obsessed with someone is nowhere CLOSE to real love.

If you are ready to get out of that relationship – that feeling will not go away. So what if she was stupid enough to get a tattoo of your names – that’s her problem, not yours. Quit lying to her and be true to your feelings and move on.
