This isn't an FML for you. FHL and YDI. Couldn't you have broken up with her sooner instead of faking your way through the relationship? Especially to the point where she has fallen in so much love with you she got a tattoo with your name? Although she's pretty dumb for getting a relationship tattoo in the first place, you led her on immensely and that's why I'm saying YDI.

Unless she's nuts. In which case he wouldn't have had to lead her on, she could have assumed they would be together forever with basis in reality. It's not really his fault if she did something stupid and impulsive. I would be interested to know how long they've been going out

True that. If she actually *is* an obsessive lunatic, this would be a slightly different story. On the other hand, if they have been in a serious relationship for quite a while (hopefully at least a few years) and she decided to get a tattoo to profess her love for him, although the idea of spouse tattoo's are completely ridiculous to me, it would be his fault for making her believe he was 'the one'. OP seems like he's known for a while he wanted to break it off with her and didn't do anything about it..so if that's the case, he's the shallow one. Still, the girl's a complete idiot...but there certainly are more factors we should know about their relationship before jumping to silly conclusions (ie. her being a total creeper/psychotic bitch)
