Today, I got back my math test. Instead of taking the time to mark the mistakes, my professor just circled the bottom half of the page and wrote "OMG." FML

Today, disappointed with my results on a mathematics test, I went over it and realized my teacher had added up the marks incorrectly, leaving me with 17% less than I earned. The person who's supposed to be teaching me math can't even perform basic arithmetic. FML

Today, my math teacher brought his laptop to tally up all our scores for our report card. He then displayed the results on a big screen in front of the whole class. The ones who failed were marked yellow. I was the only one marked yellow. FML

Today, my math TA showed the class how one of her "dumb" students answered a test question. Everyone laughed as she wrote out the students answer, including myself, until I looked down at my answer sheet and saw that I submitted an identical answer. FML

Today, I cheated on a math test by writing a couple of equations on my hand. Totally satisfied, I handed my test in, feeling like I had aced it. As I was heading toward the door, I happily waved goodbye to my teacher. She saw everything. FML

Today, I got my science test back. I thought I did a horrible job on it, but only three were circled. I was happy but doubtful that I did so well, so I asked my teacher just to make sure. He said it was faster to circle the correct answers. FML

Today, while I was taking a test in class, there was a question that had everyone stumped. After what seemed like forever, the teacher finally noticed and said he'd typed the question wrong. I spent more than half the time I had to complete the test on a question that wasn't even written correctly. Yes, I failed. FML

Today, I got my results on a recent, important midterm. During the exam, I'd noticed my instructor had accidentally left an answers page in the test packet, so being honest, I didn't look at them. It turns out she did it on purpose to help us pass. I failed. FML

I don't think this warrants and FML. If you did this badly, you didn't study hard enough and you deserve it. The teacher was just disappointed in you, and not wanting to disappoint my teacher was actually my greatest motivation in high school. I'm sure if you took the initiative to see the professor, he/she would gladly help you through. The professor is not your parent, he/she doesn't owe you an explanation on paper if you didn't study your notes and ask for help when needed because chances are that most people that fail don't spend much time looking at the explanations anyways. If you're determined to succeed, you'll go see your professor on your own.

I would laugh from shock at first. Then I'd feel irritated and my day would be damped. Mostly because the teacher felt it unnecessary to fix my errors (though in math I mess up on like the entire thing).

I'm a TA and I've done something like this. The student knew they were going to to horrible, so they tried to make me laugh (I have a policy if you can make me laugh, you get at least 1 point for each question that you answer with something funny). There were 20 questions - they got 20 points. It was out of 100, but 20 is better than nothing.
