Well I believe that the person the little human came out of legally has 100% naming rights in a lot of countries as they are the only guaranteed parent of the child.
Give the baby two middle names. Make that the second. It'll be there but never be mentioned. Win/win ;)
Shouldn't there be laws against naming your children terrible names though? I mean, it could be seen as a form a child's use I think. Example being = you live in a religious community but don't take it to serious and decided for ***** and giggles to name the child " lucifer" "judas" or "Damien" growing up in that community would be torture for that child!
There are laws like that in some countries. I think in Japan you can't name your child "Akira" because it means demon. And there were two parents who almost had their child taken away for naming it "Tula Does the Hula in Hawaii." They made them legally change the child's name.
I actually like the name Lucifer, a more elegant sound to Lucius. But yes, I most certainly agree with your point. Although in the end, Lucifer is a name I'd give to a book character or a pet, rather than saddle my child with it.
I say pick the first name yourself and use Ermintrude as the middle name. As controlling/overstepping the boundaries as it is of your mother-in-law to insist on the name, its still your husband's grandmother and maybe he wants to honour her memory. Though if he refuses the compromise its a sure sign he just wants to appease his mother. In which case just ignore them both and do what you want.
Please don't give in! Your child deserves a beautiful name :) How everything go's ok
Nickname her Trudy
I think he finally needs to wean from his mommy's breast
Your best bet is to name it renesme, of were gonna name it a lame name atleast they know where it came from. Sounds like your mother in law hates you and your baby. I'd fight to name it whatever you want instead.
Um, they do know where it came from as it is the name of the grandmother.
