Today, I ignored my cat's incessant meowing, and pushed him away every time he wanted to be petted. The next time I walked downstairs I found him dead. FML

I'm voting YDI. I can imagine than sometimes you just don't have the time to care for your cat, and that doesn't mean you're a horrible pet owner, but my cat never wants to be pet and runs away each time someone tries to touch him, so if I were you I would never ignore the cat that wants a caress.

There's no way she could have saved it even if she paid attention to it.. It wasn't starved or anything :/ She was just trying to get something done.. Saying she's horrible for not playing with it is so stupid.. I had a cat before and I never once played with it, I'd just feed it twice a day and it's been perfectly fine until I gave it away.. Cats don't die if you don't play with them, it was clearly something like an heart attack

While it's sad that the OP's cat died, it doesn't make her a horrible person. She had no way of knowing that it was going to die. Like someone said earlier, it may whine all the time, and she was just busy. I don't believe that everyone who commented something along the lines of "I NEVER ignore MY pets" wouldn't drop everything they were doing just because an animal made a sound. OP: FYL. I'm probably going to get flamed, but oh well. =) [/rant]

My cat mews all the time.Most the time,is for food or going outside(which i hate it when she does"or when she's in heat/bored.

She eats a lot.I feed up her food bowl,and My cat is sprayed.I love my cat. Edit:My cat still goes in heat for some time.I think.My parents said a few years back that when my cat was mewing a lot that she was in heat.

I'm not saying you don't love your cat. It's just, I'm pretty sure that spayed cats don't go into heat. Female cats get all of their parts removed.

Idk.also,when my cat Betty,the one that ran away one day after my cat cutey ran away.She ran away once before.When cutey was gone for a week,Betty loved me.She hated cutey.I would do anything to have Betty back.I miss her.

Aww =[ Well if it makes you feel any better, there are a lot more cats out there that need loving. You could always get another one. But I know where you're coming from, it's hard when a pet just disappears and you have no idea if they are alive or dead.

Hey you never know. You've heard the stories about cats disappearing and finding their way home years later? A miracle could still happen. :) lol our neighbors had the cutest, fluffiest, and nicest cat ever. He always stayed at our house when they went on vacation. And he liked us cuz we gave him wet food and took better care of him...I miss him. :(
