Too bad I married my bitchy, depressive high school girlfriend who said she'd kill herself if I didn't. Sometimes, she still tells me she'll do it if we divorce. I believe her. FML

Today, I have been dating an incredibly gorgeous woman. She had a poor self image and after the longest time, I finally convinced her to seek counselling to help her self esteem. It worked. So well in fact that she just broke up with me because she "finally realized she could do so much better" FML

Is her name Kelly? I'm in Florida too, and if it's her, she made the same threat with me while dating. I stayed with her for awhile longer than I should have. I finally went and got her a glass of water and took a handfull of aspirin, walked up and said.. "we're done, still wanna kill yourself? here you go, I'll help if you need me too." She stood there in shock and I started shoving the pills into her mouth.. she kinda' went along with it.. daring me, until I held the water up to her lips and she spit it all out. "how dare you, you don't love me.." yadda yadda.. she was too pissed at me to kill herself over me. A few years later she DID try to commit suicide over something else, but I've seen her around town since then.

I really freak out on how cold hearted you asshole on here are!! Telling him that is it good for her to kill herself. WTF is wrong with you people! Yes she has issues but she is still a human being! Plus there is only one side to this story being told. Who know what shit he puts her through. The fact that he is already looking at a new girl well married is repulsive!! It does not matter that you hate her, you are still married and should show her some kind of decency. If things are so bad then get a separation, move out, get her help, and then get a divorce. There is nothing win-win about someone killing themselves!!

He chose to marry her. She was making the threats before, he should have said no then. Now when the "in sickness" part comes he wants to leave her so he can bone some other chick? Way to kill the romance. Either get her help or complain about it, but don't abandon someone who has (in some twisted way) come to rely on your for their purpose in life. I am not saying Op doesn't have a right to walk away but he married her. If she had cancer, no one would be saying this. Depression is often a chemical disorder. Sure, it sounds like bitching, but she may honestly want to love you but... it doesn't matter. DOn't abandon her until you have done everything you can to help her. Don't marry unless you respect the institution.
