Today, I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal from a fast food restaurant. Turns out, they didn't give me diet. My blood sugar spiked and I was sick for hours later. I'm a diabetic. FML

To all of you who said that diabetics shouldn't eat fast food, guess what YOU SHOUDLN'T EITHER!, no one said that it was any better for you than it was for a diabetic!!, I am a diabetic, and this has happend to me.. I didn't put the drink in my cup, I didn't take my own order and screw it up, yes it happens, people make mistakes, but its not this persons fault that they were given regular pop instead of diet and couldn't tell. I usually can tell the difference myself but there are times when I have to get people that I am with to taste it for me because I am unsure. This person DID NOT deserve to be sick because they drank the wrong drink. If a normal person with an allergy goes into a resturant and orders something and in it, is something they are allergic to say .. traces of nuts or something, and ate it not knowing, is it their fault? NO it isn't obvi they didnt tell their server they were allergic to the nuts or whatever because they trusted that they wouldnt be allergic to what they were ordering just like this person didnt tell the server that they were a diabetic because they trusted that the right drink would be givin to them! No diabetic deserves to be sick because of High blood sugars,,, its brutal ! Sorry this happend to you dude!

see, you actually know what you're talking about. I'm diabetic too and these comments upset me when they say : "oh you deserve to be ill", like they even know what it's like!

As true as this is, I'm not diabetic and i don't eat fast food. YDI for anyone who is hospitalized by fast food whether they are diabetic or not. They know the consequences, so they deserve it. Diabetic or not.

After one small sip I could tell you if a soda is diet or not as can most people. This person is a real idiot to drink a whole regular soda.

there's this huge ******* comment RIGHT BEFORE YOU. Read it, cuz now you just look like an idiot. NO, not everyone can taste the difference. And if you don't have soda a lot, there's no way you can taste the difference. You're not an idiot if you can't taste the difference, you're an idiot if you think it's obvious to everyone the incredible difference between regular and diet soda!

You shouldn't be eating in a fast food restaurant if you're a diabetic imo. I'm guessing you have type 2.

nobody should be eating fast food. It's horrible and disgusting. One burger has like 40 grams or more of saturated fat. No wonder the world has an obesity problem.

Well..Im type 1 and..if i order a drink,i would always get my mum,or boyfriend to check it to make sure it is a Diet drink,it may sound stupid i know,but it's rather damaging your eye-sight or worse! I think to the owner of this,you should just be really careful about your Diabetes and just be more aware that some people can make mistakes but next time your at that fast food restaurant,make it clear that they made a mistake,buy a SOS necklace/bracelet,(SOS-save our souls). GoodLuck..x

All the people who are like you can tell the different between diet and non diet coke.. To be honest he got it from a fast food place.. being diabetic.. probably doesnt have normal coke.. he could have just presumed the fast food place had different diet coke? Anyway its not his own fault he asked for diet coke so he presumed it was diet its not his job to tell the difference.. Dude one word.. SUE. Milk em' for all they have, like that dude who sued mc donalds for not having a warning lable on there hot chocolates saying its hot and he burnt himself.. 11 million .. >:D

First it was a lady that sued Mcdonalds and secondly until I went to college (both undergrad/law school) I thought that she got a ludicrous amount of money. However, the lady that was burned from Mcd's from COFFEE had a legitimate case. Mcdonalds found out that they were not very competitive in the coffee market and they found out that sales correlated to how hot the coffee was (i.e. the hotter the coffee the more the sales). They were also told in their meeting (confirmed via memos) that despite the fact they shouldn't turn the coffee up as hot as they did that they were willing to risk it because the profit would compensate anything that happened from having their coffee that hot. This advice was obviously WRONG since they were hit with a major amount of punitive damages. Lastly, the amount they were hit for in punitives was only ONE day of profit that they would have made in sales from coffee. I really don't think that the OP has a legal case.

You asked for one thing [it's their job to listen and carry out your order] They gave you another, endagering your health. you can sue them on the same grounds as someone trying to poison you! If you wanted, a simple complaint might whip them, and prevent this from happening again though. FYL .

why are you eating fast food in the first place depending of you have type one or type two diabetes you might be able to control it with a healthy diet and exercise! that is, If you have type 2 diabetes anyway! and if you do have type two you should be staying away from all soda, even diet and stay away from fast food! go to the gym, work out, buy healthy groceries and pack a lunch! you might even be able to get rid of your diabetes or control it, atleast! come on now! you're ridiculous!!

and as for suing? ummm he probably could do it because renember that lady who spilled coffee on herself while driving? she sued mcdonald's for millions of dollars and won! why? because the cup didn't say caution: the contents of this container are hot! who the **** orders a coffee and expects it to be cold, unless Its an ICED coffee!!! yeah she's a millionaire now thanks to her own stupidity and a good lawyer!
