Today, I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal from a fast food restaurant. Turns out, they didn't give me diet. My blood sugar spiked and I was sick for hours later. I'm a diabetic. FML

You can't taste the difference? And why are you eating fast food as a diabetic, anyways? Maybe it was the rest of the grease that sent you over.

totally thier fault. my roomies a diabetic and can tell IMMEDIATLY if her soda isn't diet. that's just stupid to drink the whole thing and not notice

you completely deserved it you fat fat ****. odds are you are a type two diabetic and brought this on yourself. how about this...get off your lazy lard-filled ass and get some exercise. I dont want to be paying your healthcare

What if they are a type 1 diabetic and they went to a fast food chain for a salad and diet soda? How the hell can you be so judgmental? Oh yea cause you are JESUS and are PERFECT! FYL!

I have made enough comments on other peoples comments already (yes I have read them all). Some people make me so happy because I think "YAY there are other considerate, helpful, good people like me out there that care about other people than themselves." However there are, of course, people out there that just want to blame the person. I think these people would blame a child for being molested. "You deserve it for being attractive! FYA (**** you all). I HONESTLY hope that anyone who tells the OP YDI will be inflicted with something and THEN they will try to beg for sympath/empthy and will not be able to because their situation is the same. (I am not religious, but I do believe in karma).

you guys need to chill the **** out. some people just dont have a strong sense of taste. i cant tell the difference. and op may be newly diabetic.

you are an idiot for not being able to tell the difference between diet coke and regular coke, I don't care what anyone says

Imagine that a narrow minded person not caring about any evidence proving them wrong. Hmmmmm.

I have so much to say about this fml that in reality I could occupy every space available on this comment section, but I don't want to do that so I'll get to the point. I have type 1 diabetes

if you are diabetic then you shouldn't be eating fast food in the first place!!

Omg people are stupid. They probably have type 1 diabetes. It is fine to have fast food if you take the right amount of insulin! You are thinking of type 2 diabetes which is caused by obesity. But fast food is fine once and awhile if you measure the carbs properly and take the right amount of insulin.

just so you know, it's NOT based on just weight. Yes, being overweight or obese can make the problem worse, but there are skinny people who have type 2 diabetes as well. It can run in the family.

how does he deserve it? WTF is wrong w/ u guys

How is this a YDI? Maybe he hadn't got a regular soda in a while and couldn't really sense the difference. However, he could have remarked to the employee that he was diabetic just in case they din't pay attention or didn't really care and used to give the drink which is closest or something. And I can't believe some of the BS being said in some comments. It's like the only diabetes is Type 2 and heshouldn't eat fast food. Really? What about type 1, huh? And given the way it's prashed (sp?) I tend to think is Type 1. T1 can eat whatever they want and inyect/bolus insulin for that!! Almost everything has carbs, it's not that you can avoid inyecting and needing that insulin. Hating the "sue culture" also. I mean, OK the employee screwed up, but a spike in BS is not the end of the world. No needing to SUE! in big sparkling letters xD

I agree. There's more than one type, and it's possible to plan ahead and figure out the amount of insulin needed. and fast food is just bad in general. Once in awhile, as a treat, sure. But not a couple of times a week, too much saturated fat :/
