Well, #45/#144 maybe you should get a better job.
I'm sure there's a number of reasons for crossing off $1. First of all, the OP may have only had a small order and may have only tipped $2 or something small, then realized he was way overtipping for the service he got. It may sound like an asshole thing to do, but if the person doesn't deserve the extra dollar, they don't deserve it, end of story. I certainly wouldn't pay someone, especially someone working minimum wage in takeout, a 20% tip if they only deserved 10% or even a 30% if they only deserved 20%. You have to think about it percentage wise rather than by amount. If he gave a 20% tip to someone who really only deserved 10%, they are going to think they are giving better service than they are. Not to mention, take-out doesn't really require as much service as waiting does, so I don't really see how it is "tip worthy." And #45, you should really talk to your employer because you can only be paid sub-minimum wage if you are in a waitstaff position, which takeout is not. Also, I believe it is federal law (although it could just be state law for my state) that employers are required to make up the difference between a waiter's hourly pay and minimum wage that is not made up by tips. So if minimum wage is $7.50 an hour and a waiter makes $2.50 an hour and receives no tips that night, their employer is required to pay them that extra $5.00 per hour that they did not make. I always tip because my bill pays for the food I ate and the tip pays for the service I received from the waiter. Rarely do I leave a small tip or no tip because regardless of how bad the service was, they still brought me my food. However, for takeout, unless it's delivery, I don't tip. Here people who work take out are required to be paid minimum wage. Regardless, take out is not really providing me with a service above and beyond providing me food. Anyone who says "they only make minimum wage" can come work with me, where we serve rude, obnoxious customers all day, at minimum wage with no tips.
bitch shouldn't even get any tip for take out.
i wouldnt have even tipped her, and its your money, itll teach her that she needs to go to college instead of spending her life at a dead end job
She could be working her way through college and without people working those "dead end jobs" you would have no one to serve your food and have to cook all your meals... But wait who would stock the shelves at the stores? Or ring your order? Think before you speak.
Not too much of an FML You're never going to see her again. So what if one person thinks your cheap? Oh well. It was unprofessional of her to comment on that, but who cares? And did you know that most pizza places actually add a tip into the final price. Well if you were getting pizza delivered, I'm not actually sure what you were getting. But yeah. So really, you're tipping these people twice.
I like how everyone's pissed at you for the dollar, hoping they piss in your food in it and shit, etc., and their argument is that it's just a dollar, you should've paid it, blah blah blah, and well... It's just a ******* dollar people. Christ. Who gives a **** if he lowered it by a dollar? Did SHE really need that dollar? ****, if she'd said that to me, I would've just crossed out the whole tip line. God I hate food service. I hate tipping when I feel service was awful (even if a miniscule amount), but I feel obligated because I know how shit they get paid.

What does it matter if she saw you do it or not? She would have seen it crossed out in a little bit anyway. It's a weird thing that you would bother to cross it out and lower it by only a dollar, seeing as how a dollar is relatively insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but it's just weird as opposed to horrible. Plus, it was only take out, people don't normally tip on take out at all so if I were her, I'd feel grateful to have even gotten a couple dollars.
I think what he means is that he wants the waiter to make the night good by providing good service and that they should have to work for a big tip and not just expect it
