I once wanted to be a vet, but the thought of having to put down so many animals turned me away. I realized I made a good decision as even reading this FML makes me cry.

I'm sure the OP had an idea of what their job was going to be like. Don't think they were ready to put down that amount of animals in a day.

i am 17 and i want to be an avian vet (birds) i am currently working at an animal clinic and i have YET to see that many euthanizations. that has to be very heartbreaking OP. i have been working there since like march and have only seen like 7 dogs and 5 cats.

That's what I plan to major in college for. I love animals and love to help them. It hurts to put some animals down but remember they'll be in a better place and still be in the families's hearts.

That's the reason I don't want to be a vet... :( I used to want that but then I realised i could never handle the sad part of the job. But this is just your first day! It will get better for sure. Good luck :)
