Today, I was at the gym with my friends when they invited me to do a few bench presses. Since I'd never done any before, I decided to start with no weights on the bar and work my way up from there. I wound up pinned beneath the bar, calling for my friend to come free me. FML

you dont deserve that bc it is my assumption that 98% of the population can lift a 45 lb barbell. 7-12 yr olds included. Spotter next time homeboy. Always when trying new exercises and eat that protein mix after workouts. Sounds like you need to gain some weight and muscle

Lifting without knowing how, and without the proper support is dangerous. It doesn't matter how strong or weak you are, don't do it alone, and make sure you start with a comfortable weight. You can always improve.

45 lb. bar or not, why the hell would you bench ANYTHING without a spotter? People have ended up killing themselves because they tried to bench alone. If nothing else you could have seriously hurt yourself.

not so bad i cant even do that, then again 45 is more then half my weight......................

I HEALTHY adult should be able to bench press their own body weight. You have SERIOUS issues if you cannot life the bar and should seek a professional trainer ASAP. It is dangerous being in that poor of shape and your body will thank you once you train for a few weeks.
