thats_not_good tells us more.
The tattoo is on my shoulder blade, and it's a Celtic knot that I drew up myself. The artist was filling in the shading in the knot after finishing the outline when he started filling in an area on the wrong side of the line. He ended up fixing it so the design came out symmetrical, and it looks really good. No regrets and no worries.

gotta do your research. and get to know the artist, make sure they are really an artist. this is permanent after all.
What did they do to the tattoo?
There's nothing wrong with getting a tattoo...but always ALWAYS do your research on the artist/shop, ESPECIALLY if you are getting a big/detailed/complicated/artistic piece done! Then again, you have done all your homework and the guy screwed up anyway. We all make mistakes...even tattoo artists.
tattoos are personal and are not a bad idea....just as lonbg as you know what you want and know the persaon doing it is reliable... what did it turn out to be?
I actually would listen to what other people said, but since their parents I can make an acception :P
You should have listened to your mom, they always know.
All those saying YDI just because they think tattoos are stupid and they wrinkle as you get old... a lot of people get tattoos that help them through life or remind them of stuff. Recovering anorexics get tattoos reminding them to eat, mothers get tattoos to comemorate their dead children. Seriously, not everyone gets tacky tribal designs. FYL though, I hope it was all fixed up nicely !
so how did it turn out?
Tattoos are a personal thing, and there's nothing inherently wrong with them. All you have to do is be totally sure that you want one and find a reputable tattoo artist. It would be a YDI if the OP got a really stupid tattoo or went for the cheapest place, but accidents happen, even when you're properly prepared.

It was a bad idea.
Yeah, bad idea... sounds like if you try it again you should do a little research to figure out the best tattoo parlor in your area...
