The guy must pay? If they're in a relationship then it's give and take. Having a bit of equality in the relationship doesn't mean the guy isn't a 'gentlemen'. You're all basically saying he needs to buy her love. Women can actually earn their own money and can buy their own things, they should be able to pay for their own food. I feel so sorry for the OP for being dumped in that stupid, immature way and also for having over 200 people say he deserves it. I also feel sorry for all these people having a misconception of how a relationship is meant to be. I would never expect that of someone I love.

From what we know from this FML, while what happened was sucky, I think OP deserved it by disregarding his gentlemanly duty. You should have AT LEAST offered to go get her purse from the car.
