You don't know what the relationship was like for one. For another thing, MAYBE THE GIRLFRIEND OFFERED TO PAY. And hell maybe she did it specifically so she could execute a plan to make the excuse of leaving in order to put the note on his windshield and leave him behind. Maybe he had money but she said "oh I'll pay for it" because she needed the excuse to leave. Who the hell knows? She could have been planning to dump him for a while and figured that was a way to pull it off. 3, It's the girl who's at fault here. Whether she offered to pay or not, she still pulled the coward's way out card and made herself a way to escape so she could avoid being a human being and having the decency to tell him to his face that she was done with him.
