I enjoy New England in the fall but their roads are awful. I wouldn't want any kids of mine driving on them in the winter either! But I would never make them walk more than one mile. Never alongside a road with only a ditch or embankment either. We would figure out something reasonable. For that aspect I feel for you OP. But He shouldn't have to hide anything to make you respect his rules. That shows a lack of maturity in itself. As long as your in his care his rules take first priority. I feel like there is more to this story for the dad to seem so extreme. Meanwhile get a bus pass or ride share w someone and pay in for some gas.
