Today, my five year old daughter asked me what a divorce was. When I asked why she wanted to know, she replied with "Daddy wants one. He says you can have me." FML

the post doesn't state how the little girl heard her father say it.. for all we know he could have been on the phone with someone not knowing she was in the room. and maybe he realized that her mother would take better care of her than he would, which would make sense of him wanting her to have their daughter. that being said, divorce sucks no matter what the reasons behind it are. I see that everyone is hating him for telling the child. What do you all expect? That she will never figgure out that he's gone? That years of hearing her mother spew vitriol about him is healthier than him telling her that he's leaving? The child is always involved in a divorce no matter which parent tells her. On the bright side, if she thinks now that he hates her and wants out if her life, op isn't going to surprise her or have to change her mind with the decade of hatred for her ex that's coming. Every child that grew up with a divorced mother already knows that she will tell the child that the father is the scum of the earth and that he hated her and wanted her gone anyhow.

That's ******. Good riddance to bad rubbish, anyone who would do something like that to their child (knowing it will screw them up one day) break the news to a spouse in such a disrespectful manor, and doesn't love their own child enough to at the very least want to be with them after ripping apart their family, doesn't deserve a wife or a child. Go show him what by getting into the best shape of your life, if you have the financial means to do so buy yourself a new wardrobe, get a makeover, get your daughter into the best school you can find; and this summer you and your daughter should go on a 5 star vacation, take a cruise, go to Disneyland.
