Hi, English major here. Both 'sneaked' and 'snuck' are the acceptable past tense of 'sneak.' Tell your boyfriend nobody likes a grammar Nazi; especially an incorrect one.
Maybe she meant she snacked out on her boyfriend! Lol.
I was shocked and appalled when I found out "Snuck" is apparently wrong. Saying "I sneaked out" just sounds so much worse :/

Both are acceptable. "Snuck" is more common, in my experience. It's like "hung" and "hanged." Hung was actually added to the dictionary later, as many people thought "hanged" sounded awkward and improper.
