You probably should've let her know before you left but then again, dumping you is pretty extreme.
couldn't u have called her from a Land Line??
I'm a little curious about why you didn't say something to your girlfriend BEFORE you got to your grandfather's bedside- If my grandfather was dying my boyfriend would probably be the first person I'd call, especially if I knew he wasn't going to be able to reach me for a few days- but still FYL cuz she sounds like a bitch with trust issues. You can do better.
Why do people go "FML" after incidents like this? It's the perfect chance to dump a crazy girlfriend. I don't want to date some crazy paranoid bitch... do you, OP?
Well she was overreacting, but #88 has a good point, why didn't you let her know you'd be gone for a few days? Sounds like you just up and disappear a bit, and she'd had enough.
No real person spends every second of everyday thinking about the person they are going out with. Someone already said "Maybe he was going to call her when he got there but didnt expect to not have service." Also I love how you act like his grandfather isnt worth shit. When you first find out your grandfather is dieing, and the first thing you think is "I HAVE TO TELL MY GIRLFRIEND" you are a terrible person.
It does sound kind of sketchy at least.

You were lucky to find out what a bitch she is. Mourn over your grandpa, forget her.
Well, if she can't handle not getting calls from you for only a few days, that seems clingy. Perhaps this is a good thing.
