Today, my girlfriend broke up with me, saying I was immature for making gay jokes all the time. A few hours later, I got six texts and three calls from guys I didn't know. It turns out, she put my name and number on Craigslist as a gay man seeking a relationship. FML

Today I was on Craigslist and saw an ad for a perfect guy looking for a relationship. Turns out he's not even gay, his ex-girlfriend just posted the ad to get revenge. FML.

great idea! I've got a friend that calls everybody gay all the time. I think if he acts up again, I'll put his number on craigslist, too.

Chances are, if she broke up with him over it, they were offensive. Also, gay jokes are like black jokes: If you aren't one, then don't make them. Because you sound like a douche.

@132, you have no idea how strongly I disagree with you. As long as you know your audience jokes that have a butt you are not a part of can be HILARIOUS. For example: what's the difference between a sadist and a dentist's magazine? Dentists are weekly. I'm not a dentist and I don't think they are actually sadists, and I'm pretty sure a lot of people would agree that the joke is funny.

I think it's different with a profession. That person chose to be that thing, most likely fully aware of the associations with it. With sexuality, race, sort of religion, etc. it is a part of someone's identity. And his girlfriend was obviously not an audience he should have been making jokes to to begin with since it clearly bothers her.
