Today, my partner and I were cuddling on the couch, watching TV when she smiled and murmured, "You smell like my dad." FML

You should've told her that she smells like your mom... And made it equally as awkward

There have actually been psychological studies that show that women are attracted to men who smell like their fathers, and men are attracted to women who smell like their mothers. So don't worry OP, it's totally normal(:

Except no such studies have actually ever been done, because measuring a certain person's smell is quite impossible. Similar qualities and personality traits can be attractive though.

Actually, I'm a psychology major and have learned about these studies. It's difficult to go in detail about it without my notes in front of me, but a summarized version is that a group of men were ordered not to shower for about a week, and at the end of the week a group of women were asked to smell the t shirts of the men and rate how attracted they were to them based on the smell and it was found that most of the women (I can't remember the exact percentage) rated the t shirt that smelled most like their father's as their favorite.

At least you don't taste like his dad like in an FML I moderated.

#39 no I didn't, I got it out of my psychology school books, I don't watch TV shows.

The worst response you could give? "Do I bang like him?".

well, I've heard that some women search for partners that remind them of their fathers.

Unless you're an alcoholic then I'd say this isn't really a bad thing

I'm pretty something similar to this was posted awhile ago but, long-story to short, she simply associates you with someone who makes her feel safe. Nothing wrong with that, man.

Time to buy new shampoo, aftershave, deodorant or whatever causes the smell.

Do you smell like Pabst Blue Ribbon, bad cigars and bacon?
