Today, while I was walking home, I noticed an elderly man in a wheel chair trying to paint his garage so I went over to help. His response was verbal abuse and a slap to the face with a wet paint brush. FML

It wasn't his garage wall, it was his friends. Give him some slack, he's just getting into Facebook and took the whole 'writing on your wall' to heart.

Well what do you expect? His name IS Mr.Independent.

If he had wanted help, he would have arranged for it. In my experience, elderly folks typically don't want unasked-for help from strangers, no matter what 1950's movies tell us. Heck, my grandparents don't even like being offered seats on public transportation (and they're no spring chickens)! (However, they don't react in anger, like this dude...a simple "No, thank you" is the worst you'll get from them!)

Two ways to deal with this: 1. call the police- just because he is older that doesn't give him any right to hit anyone else- lots of old people are rude and they get away with it bc they are older and no one will do anything about it. 2. Hit him back- don't discriminate - treat him the same way!

Wait and see if he can get his wheel chair on top of a ladder. If he can, YDI, if not, point and laugh.

Some people don't see themselves as having a handicap.

roll him down a steep hill :P

Press charges. Assault and battery. He'll spend his last years of his life in prison.
