Today, while tuning my bass guitar, I noticed a very strange screeching sound. I leaned over to look behind the neck. The biggest string snapped off and cut the side of my face. FML

that's why I'm a Keyboard/Brass player...can't get cut with those =]

FAKE 1. the biggest string is the hardest to break, it wouldn't break for no reason 2. if it was screeching, you would look at the plug or the amp, not the neck 3. to look behind the neck, you have to lean back, thus putting your face FARTHER from the strings even if by some weird occurrence this is actually true, you still deserve it for playing bass and not guitar :D

I think there are numerous factors you aren't taking into consideration. Like a Ninja mouse on a sabotage mission clinging to the neck. Damn dangerous to stick to facts. Makes you blind to the truth. *Edit: Now I look like a raving lunatic talking to myself rather than a suggestive education lunatic. Thanks team. =]

hey op, i hope meant u "needed" stitches and got it b4 u post on fml cuz it'll be pretty stupid if u ran straight to fml post it and telling everyone that u need stitches and not doing shit about it

ah the thickest one? I'm always paranoid when restringing my steel string guitar! well this makes the paranoia much better...

my cousin in law snapped a guitar string which then cut his pointer finger to the bone. because of the tendon damage he can't really bend that finger. and this is why when I hear a creak when tuning I move my face out of the way and try to protect my hands.

I feel your pain OP. One time my E (lower) string on my guitar, gave me a pretty nasty cut too. But seriously, how much tension did you put on that string? I mean.. I thought it were virtually impossible to break a bass string, by tuning!
