Today, I started my community service at the dog pound. I like animals so I thought it would be a good place to do it. As I arrived they were throwing dogs that had been euthanized into a dump truck to be taken to a landfill. That was my job for the day. FML

Today, I started my first day of work at our local humane society. I asked where the break room was, so my coworker directed me to a small room in the back of the building. The only place I get to take my lunch break is the same room where they euthanize, freeze, and cremate the animals. FML

Today, it was my first day as an animal control officer. My first dispatch was to collect a dog that had been hit by a car. I had to clean up my dead dog on my first day of a job that barely pays rent. FML

Today, at my minimum wage job, we received a half-way decomposed dog found in a lake. It was my job to tear open the bag and try to identify the breed and color. It would've been easier if the body wasn't crawling with maggots. FML

Today, I work at a doggy day care. Employees are not allowed to leave the dogs unsupervised for any reason. So while I was alone in a yard, my stomach decided that it would be the perfect time to empty itself. Because I didn’t want to lose my job, I puked in front of everyone. FML

Today, I went to my father's house to get my dog, since I had left it with him while I was on a business trip. When I got there, my dad said the dog pooped on the floor a few days ago, and so he took him to the pound. FML

Today, I was fired from my local animal shelter. I was a volunteer and am currently in school for veterinary technology. My education made the paid staff at the shelter feel threatened. FML

Today, I was on a job trial at the local pet shop and, naturally, was doing all the disgusting jobs. As I was cleaning the kittens' litter in the cat enclosure, someone thought it would be funny to lock me in there. I sat in a giant cage in the middle of the store with people laughing at me. FML

Why did you have to do community service? Did you really think you'd be playing with puppies? Poop eradication would have been appropriate, but clearing dead animals is way over the top!!!

if i live near New Bern NC then you should volunteer at the Broad Creek Hound Rescue. They'll sing off on your community service and its a no kill non-profit. Look them up on facebook

Dear #100: by vilifying the people who are trying to clean up the messes left by irresponsible pet owners, you are helping no one, and you sure as heck aren't helping any animals. These may seem like horrible measures to resort to, but it's all because there really is no way to care for these animals. The alternative is to let them run around in the cities, breed more, leading to packs of starving feral dogs roaming around our streets, which is hazardous to everyone, human and animal alike. They are not torturing animals, they are not doing this as a joke or an insult to animals. This is a sad but necessary effort to control animal populations. Don't like it? Then spread the word about neutering and spaying pets, because a reduced birth rate is the only thing that's going to stop this.

OMG this same thing happened to me! my first day they were clearing out bodies and THEN i went to the hospital area to do the dishes they told me to do & there were dead kittens in there! dead KITTENS .
