At least someone's happy…

By reckless182 - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I had to tell my 10 year-old son that his father and I are getting a divorce. His reply? "Yes! I call living with dad!" FML

My bro was the same way. lived with dad and Then started missing food and allowances n all. coz dad always had a diff girl every day too. lol no father and son bonding that he expected. dad felt like it was a burden despite initial excitement...

(Great comeback) To late I already did!

Maybe it's because of your bad grammar? "me and his father"?? Try "his father and I" next time and maybe he'd choose you =)

#15 who cares about her grammar? If it isnt you dont worry about anything...Dont take it personally hes a boy just like if I was in the same predicament I would want to go with my mother (cause I'm a gril :P lol) its only natural

Nawh, I'm a girl and my parents divorced, but I chose my dad :/

I'm a girl and I would also rather go with my dad. My mom has NPD, which makes her very selfish and manipulative, in addition to parentifying and emotionally abusing her children. My point is that it isn't always gender that matters. It is the relationship. Often, the daughter has a closer relationship with her mom and the son has a better relationship with his dad because they have more in common. But if there is a problem with their relationship they might "prefer" the other parent.

I agree. YDI for saying "me and his father." He probably hates you because you have terrible grammar. Really though, you must have done something to make him like his father better...

It's because daddy will let him keep the toilet seat up.

When I was his age, I'd probably have preferred my dad too. What's more important is that he gets to spend quality time with both of you as often as possible. Somebody will always miss out in this kind of situation. I hope you and his father are on fair terms...

What does "ur" mean? That's not a word I recognize.

I do believe it's an ancient Mesopotamian city, but its relevance to this FML is beyond me.

@#25 Idiots who can´t spell "you'r" or "you are" or "your" use ur.

Baroness542 6

Or maybe it's because they don't know whether to use "your" or "you're" so they use "ur" to make them look literate and grammatically inclined... ...wait a second....

u ppl r such dumb asses. hu giivez a *** iif sum1 doesnt spell a word out completely. u dnt hav any thng better 2 do wiit yo stupiid ass liivez dan correct grammar?!?!?! well now u can spend sum tiime correctiin miine....damn

wow you must be REALLY stupid! "ur" means your or you're. a lot of kidS, teens and even some adults use text spelling and/or grammar just because it's easier and faster. it's not just people being lazy it's fast and sometimes fun. this is supposed to be a sight to have fun with and laugh at. if this was a job paper or something then i'm sure that EVERYONE would use propper spelling and grammar. NOW GO *** UR SELVZ U FUKIN ANOYIN BASTARDZ!!!!!!!! IF U DONT LIK HOW PPL SPEL THEN GET OFF UR FUKN COMP N GET A LIFE!!!!!!!! CUZ RITE NOW CORECTN OTHA PPLZ SPELLN JUST MAKEZ U LOOK LIK N IDOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wait sorry I should have said. COME ON PPL GET OVA URSELVES!!!! WE JUST DON WANNA WAIST OUR TIME WITH LIL SHIT FACED CUNTZ LIK U!!!!!!!

When you were actually attempting to spell properly...you misspelled "site". As in speaking about this web-page. It isn't spelled "sight". Therefore still making you uneducated. Texting in itself is lazy also, when I could just pick up the phone, call you and say what I have to say and hang up, now THAT is easier. Also it's faster to type with proper grammar IF you can actually type to begin with. I guess I'm just a fan of correct sentence structure and not sounding like a complete idiot. Stay in school, kiddo.

whoa there buddy. calm down

Don't take it personally, my parents got divorced when I was about 7, my Mom told me later on that when she told me, I didn't really seem to care at all. The kid probably just doesn't understand what it all means.

Well, whaddaya gonna do? He DID call it, no backsies...

If your kids like you too much you're either a really good parent or a really bad one, and the vast majority of the time it's the latter.

Yeah, I agree with #20 and others. When my parents got divorced I didn't care at ALL, I didn't even know what it meant - suddenly I was living at my dads house and all I cared about was that I got to make new friends and explore a new town. When he grows older he will understand and know who to appreciate. Don't let it get to you - that probably just means dad spoils him more (at least thats why I started preferring my dad's house, now I know better).
