A bathroom attendant will turn on the faucet and hand you a towel. They will not be a walking closet while you act the dutchess.
Can't trust anyone these days
That sucks hope you can put a stop to all your cards and listen to comment 1
To be fair to the OP, if you don't frequent the types of fancy establishments where they might have a bathroom attendants you probably don't know a) how to properly identify one and b) don't know the social protocols for dealing with one. I know even at my fairly common job as a cashier people often assume I have duties outside of what I actually do, the most common issue being that some, especially older folks expect me to load their bags in their carts as a part of my official duties. So if someone can screw up dealing with a fairly common day-to-day service provider then I'm not surprised when they came across(or thought they came across) something far rarer like a bathroom attendant.
paranoid would be if you had sowed your purse on your skin.

You should have asked......
I actually have had a hotel have a person at each bathroom to hold your stuff. I even made sure by asking the receptionist. Sorry OP, hope you get your stuff back.

Even if they did have one...why give your things to anyone? YDI just take it with you and hang them on the hook on the bathroom door.
I never trust that, maybe I don't trust people in general but I'm not okay with the idea of handing my expensive things to a stranger and assuming they'll give them back.
