Today, our house caught fire. While trying to help my mom get to safety, the word "fuck" accidentally escaped my mouth. Once we were safe, she said I was grounded for swearing. I'm 19. FML

Today, I was talking to one of my British friends online, and he told me to say "yew anchors" a few times really fast. I'm a fairly stupid person, and wasn't very focused, so I did as he said. When I finally figured what the words meant, my dad had heard and grounded me for cursing. FML

Today, I said a few words to my mom that happened to be similar to something offensive, and she misheard. I tried to tell her, but she was so angry that she assumed I was saying more offensive things. Now she is punishing everybody in the house, and I’m not allowed to speak to her. FML

Why is everyone like "You let them?" You're all a bunch of spoiled brats. My parents would beat the shit out of me for swearing in front of them. And yeah, you take it, as long as you want someone to pay for college instead of being in debt until you're 55.

I agree with #95. It's not easy standing up to parents and there are usually more consequences for doing so. And seriously, shut up about an eighteen-year-old living at home. Like some others said, it takes a lot of money and you can't just decide to leave suddenly. You don't know the poster's financial situation or if they're staying at home for school. Hey, they might even WANT to live at home. So stop telling them to move out just because they're a certain age. That is quite hilarious, though. I mean, hell is hardly a "bad word".
