Not so tech savvy

Today, I called Tech Support because the computer program wouldn't let me open files for my online classes. After an hour, and being walked through the downloading process multiple times. There was a pause and he said, "You're a fucking idiot." and hung up. It still won't work. FML

The techie indeed fails for being a douche, but I remain suspicious of anyone who uses the phrase "it won't let me" with computers. If you're talking about a computer like it's an autonomous entity with agency and desires, you don't understand the computer and therefore, how to maintain it.

What an asshole! God, that's what those people get paid to do.

@151 - I worked at my school's tech support. The only training at tech support I was given was a link to a website. I was hired because I had previously worked on designing alot of the universities webpages - I was hired from that job due to information I learned from Neopets Html guide.

that happened to me. try using firefox instead if you're using internet explorer.

#222 - You want this dog?! (Apologies if you weren't making the reference I think you were) Anyway, I work the best type of tech support - on-site. I speak with my users in person. It means I really can't call people idiots to their face, but it also means that if someone doesn't get it I can go and do it for them. If I worked on a phone line (a job I've been asked to switch to many times, but refuse), I don't know how much restraint I'd be able to show. Many callers ARE idiots, and even with the additional information the OP provided in the comments, I'm pretty sure she's one of them.

haha that is totally something i would say. sometimes i wonder why i work in customer service.

You may or may not have deserved it, depending on how much of a ******* idiot you really are and how well (or poorly) the tech support guy was explaining the process.

You're probably an idiot, if it takes you over an hour and multiple walkthroughs you probably shouldn't be using the internet. Plus the way you word it convinces me you don't know what you're talking about.

Damn, that sucks. It's their JOB to help you with that shit. Don't sweat it. Just report him.
