Your dad should of been a firefighter, because we would of partied with you lol jk jk
*should have
I admit that wasn't the best way to win back your love and trust, but as an officer of the law he couldn't really turn his back on it. He's trying to do what's best for you. Give him a little credit. :)
Sound more like he was getting a hard-on abour his authority.
If the father is trying to do what's best for his son, then he shouldn't be estranged.
Maybe you shouldn't have been drinking
It never says OP was drinking. It says people at his party were drinking. We won't know if he was or was not drinking unless he decides to come back and tell us. Stop making assumptions.
In the US, where the drinking age is 21, I would have said YDI, but what from what I've heard about Oz, the de facto drinking age is about 8. My Aussie friend told me there was some kind of race, and to keep drunkenness to a minimum, each attendee was allowed ONLY two CASES of beer (or four cases of light beer!)
That's to keep it at a MINIMUM?!?
I'm from Bathurst originally, the V8 races at Mount Panorama are generally a booze fest. Bogans (kinda like Aussie rednecks) flock to the town for a week and camp at the race track.
They also have bar facilities around the track while the races are on.
Seriously dumb serving alcohol to minors. He's not there to be your buddy, he's your father.
He is NEITHER. He is an estranged absent father showing up uninvited and unannounced at a private home.
Where was this party? Likely at your Moms? If you just turned 17 I'm sure there were some 16 and 15 year olds there too. Say one of your buddies wrapped his car around a tree on the way home. How forgiving are the parents of these children (and that's what you are no matter how big and all growled up you feel) likely to be toward an adult who provided them a place to get drunk? Your Dad did the right thing and as a cop sworn to uphold the law it was the only thing he could do. Grow the **** up.
I've been drinking since I was 16, granted I haven't been driving that long and most of my friends don't drive. But if they did I wouldn't let them drive home or I wouldn't let them drink simple as. Just because you're underage drinking doesn't mean that you suddenly throw all responsibilities out the window.
They make a valid point. Why do other people have to risk a drunk crashing into them, injuring themselves, or killing someone because you think you are responsible. Not everyone cares and hundreds of people die each year from alcohol related crashes.
52 - I really doubt OP actually provided the alcohol for the others. At every party i've been to we bring our own.
I always though Aussie land was like Quebec. The legal drinking age is only a suggestion!
I sincerely hope things get better between you and your dad. A good relationship with your parents is one of the most important things you can have. Just remember: he was only doing his job, he wasn't trying to hurt you. Stay strong.

Obviously you shouldn't be drinking if your underage, especially if your dads a cop. You should know better
He's doing his job and you're underage, this isn't Superbad Mr. McLovin...
