Today, I found out just how easy it is to be launched against the wall and sucker-punched into oblivion by a 200-pound former Marine turned professional body-builder. I discovered this after I told my fiancée's dad that we were expecting a baby. FML

My dad is an ex Marine and he was happy when my husband and I told him I was expecting. Fyl Hope he doesn't treat your baby and fiance like shit too.

^ Maybe Op and his financé are consenting adults and they didn't Do anything wrong and don't Need to wait until marriage to have a child. And no, Op didn't get lucky with the ex-marine's reaction: if anything, that thug will be lucky to not have a criminal record now for assault at the very least. Having his dick shot off (much less jail time) wasn't even a remote possibility for Op, unless the father wanted to spend the rest of his life in prison himself. Grow up. :p

I am grown up thank you very much:) fathers do crazy things to protect their daughters,I know because when I dated this girl when I first began college,her father pointed a gun at me when we were alone(I went to pick her up so I inevitably had to meet her father) he said if I ever got her pregnant he would shoot me. me and the girl parted on good terms and we see eachother around occasionally but my point is that if this roid ragin' former marine tosssed op like a rag doll once,how do we know he might not do something stupid like shooting op,regardless of jail time,sometimes people act before they think or however that goes.

I do agree that if they are two consenting adults,they can do as they choose but to fathers,their little girl never grows up and they know all the tricks guys used because they were that age once so the father will protect the daughter at all costs,though that is no excuse for physically assaulting the father of his grandchild,provided that op and his wife were indeed getting married.I understand where the dad is coming from though,there are lotsa scumbags who hit it and quit it.

Damn, OP. You should have bailed out of this relationship while you could. If he hates you that much, how do you think the rest of your life with his daughter will pan out? You should move VERY far away. I don't care if her dad fought for our country, that was completely the most negative and inappropriate reaction he could have had, and you should honestly press charges and get a restraining order. Don't let him near your kid either - if he can't control his violent outbursts, he shouldn't be a part of YOUR family. I wouldn't let a man like that near my baby if you paid me. If he's an Ex-Marine, chances are he was trained in some form of combat. Ergo, his body is legally considered a deadly weapon, which makes the laws harsher on him when he does something this horrible. You need to tell your fiance that if she doesn't stand up to her selfish overprotective father who just can't let his "little baby girl" grow up and be an adult, you might not want to go through with the wedding. Seriously, think of what kind of family you're committing yourself to here. It's one thing for your love's family to hate you, it's another for their family to beat you senseless every chance they get. Especially since he's a body builder, that guy's probably pumped so full of illegal steroids, you're lucky to be alive. Seriously, DON'T let your baby near him. Ever.
