I'm with others here. It seems a very silly to bring your own in without even letting the boss or someone know that your office printer was broken. Otherwise you would A. have someone who can back up your story or more likely B. A new printer arranged by and paid for by the company. It's kind of both YDI and YLS.

Sorry, another thought occurred to me after my editing time was up. Why oh why OP did you not just show your boss the broken printer after he wouldn't believe you! Surely you did not throw it out because if you did then you most definitely deserve to have your own printer confiscated in return.

Yeah, I wouldn't have bought my own personal printer in. I would flagged the issue up with the office printer up with your boss or IT and made them buy a new office printer.
