you broke the law, now your going to pay for the rest of your life, thats how it works pal. Some places wont hire you because you have a record but SOME places CANT hire you because you have a record. You should look into that and make sure that the place you are applying for CAN hire you. Either that or look into saying, "Do you want fries with that?" - Not everyone gets to be an astronaut or lawyer. Suck it up
Jeez. I do think that criminals should be punished, but half the people here are flying off their rockers for some crime they don't even know the full details of. Maybe OP's changed. He's obviously served (or almost at least) his sentence and hopefully learned his lesson. Ever hear of forgiveness?
exactly
Keyword: maybe. That is exactly why they did not hire him.
thats wat u get for being a bad boy/girl in the first place :)
You should have thought about that before you made a stupid mistake. You messed up, and now you have to deal with the consequences. Don't screw up next time. (:
we've all made mistakes but most of us have not made mistakes which could have had us sent to jail. That is what probation is, a crime was commited that could have warrented jail time, but people get probation if it was a more minor crime (worse than getting a ticket or stealing some stuff, but better than rape or murder), or if they were first time offenders. OP YDI. you commited a crime, fully aware of the consequences of your actions and are now blaming society for not overlooking the fact that you commited a punishable offence and allowing you back into normal society as an equal citizen. too bad for you, get used to it and in time providing no further offences are commited, you will be forgiven.
Guys have you heard of mandatory minimums in the US? People get sent to prison or punished for stupid crimes due to a dumb law. Can you lay off the OP. They probably did something we've all done but happened to be caught.
Now I don't know all the details, so I will not rate this one. However, I would bet that there was a box to check if you had a criminal record, and you didn't answer it honestly. Any untruthfulness on a job application will cost you a job. I have read so many articles about managers who said that they would have hired the person if they had told them of their record. And, BTW, just because you get off probation doesn't mean you no longer have a record.
Exactly... it doesn't matter if you're currently on probation, because you still have a record. Should have been honest from the start.
that does kind of suck. but you're not completely screwed. both my parents have criminal records, and they both have high-paying jobs. and why is everyone here so judgemental? get down off your high horses and stop pretending you're perfect.
Well, there is always mcdonalds
I don't have shades, but I do have a giant mad hatter tophat. *puts on tophat*
*watches Pendatic run like a noob through her telescope* RUN, BITCH, RUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNN! *takes a swig on her crate of vodka*
The US really has the worst criminal system in the industrialized world.

Were you really a prison bitch as your name suggests? Because if you served time, it might not matter that you'll be off probation. Whatever your crime, did you not think about the consequences of your actions beforehand? Why are you surprised this is happening? To everyone who is talking about forgiveness -- why should a company take a gamble that this is the one criminal in a thousand who saw the error of his/her ways and turned over a new leaf? Would you trust a stranger with a record to house-sit?
