reminds me of panic disorder. the fear of panic attacks is so great, that the fear you will have one causes you to have one. not really an fml because its a psychological disorder, but oh the ironyyy!
Aw, man, that just sucks. I admit that asthma is horrible; I used to have it (until I worked out and outgrew it). However, this backs up my theory that as bad as something is, your mindset (positive or negative) can affect how your body reacts. For example, if you had either forgotten about the inhaler, or said "you know what my bodys tough i bet i can handle it, ill concentrate on breathing right and try to handle it", you might have been able to get through the day without it; or at least, you would have lasted longer, and definitely not had a panic attack. lol ================ To #67: that is so true! Asthma is not fake, and inhalers are NOT a scam. As of now, i don't use inhalers anymore, because my workouts are so intense that I don't need one anymore. (This coming from a guy who just got back from running sprints, hills, and intense dynamics at his school field, at 11:30 at night, and pumped iron earlier). HOWEVER, sometimes I will use one just for the hell of it, cuz i still have one just in case, you know? and when i DO use it, it makes me like super-human or something hahaha. My 40 time goes down from like low 4'7s to like a 4'6 or 4'5, and I can run so much longer and faster, and i feel stronger too. ============== another thing: I would like to add that, although i admit asthma is brutal when you still have it, and inhalers are vital.... THERE ARE WAYS TO OUTGROW ASTHMA! Contrary to the pharmaceutical people and doctors, who want to make money off of your misfortune, you can actually lift weights, run, etc. and eventually outgrow it. To #67 again, what you are doing (cross country) is good. However, that is not enough to outgrow asthma in itself. To outgrow asthma, you have to work your body in every way possible (because your body and circulatory system are WEAK IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE!!). You are doing long distance running. What I do is long distance running, middle distance, sprinting, plyo, hard lifting (upper, lower, core), eating healthy, drills, proper stretching, etc. If you do what I DO and actually work yourself in every way possible, then you will actually have a good chance at overgrowing asthma. #60 may be an inconsiderate jerk... but he is partially right. NOT THAT ASTHMA IS A SCAM; but that it can be outgrown BY JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY. My asthma AND ALLERGIES was so bad that I couldn't even walk out the door sometimes in springtime without being killed! But between SLOWLY waning off the inhaler, working my butt off every day, doing football wrestling and track, and taking allergy shots... I actually outgrew it! For those interested, I made an article on "Ehow" about what I do for my work-outs... it includes everything, ranging from warmups, to stretching, to running, to lifting, to plyo,to ab work, to dynamics, to drills, to balancing practice, to coordination, to eating and sleep habits. I'm not saying you're interested, but I know if you read it it will change your life. =) Here it is: http://www.ehow.com/how_4962510_become-better-athlete-allaround.html If it's not highlighted/a hyperlink, then just copy and paste that HTML (the above), and paste it into the "web address bar" at the top, then press enter. It will take you to the site.
I know how bad panic attacks are, but you have to calm down when you forget your inhaler. Since you more or less brought it on yourself I don't really have much sympathy.
#61 you shouldn't compare kids with asthma to kids with cancer. Kids with cancer have to go through chemo, and radiation not to mention lose their hair and become pretty sick. All someone with asthma has to do is carry around an inhaler and not be a pussy and they're fine. I wouldn't tell a kid with cancer to suck it up because cancer is no joke. I'm not the pussy, you are. Go find a girlfriend.
47 & 50, what's lax?55, another self-fulfilling prophecy. maybe u shouldn't worry about panic attacks. there's this kid on my wrestling team, and he had an asthma attack during his match. he had to stay at the hospital overnight, and he missed band practice the next morning. this kid, by the way (this is for u 66) is one of the fittest guys and best wrestlers i know.

That sucks. And to the people saying "lame", "YDI", etc. Asthma is serious business. People die without their inhalers. That's like worrying about not having a parachute while skydiving. the OP had every right to freak out for forgetting their inhaler.
Aw, that's one of those things that isn't funny at the time but you'll laugh about it later. I don't have asthma but panic attacks are never fun :( And to all the people who leave comments saying YDI or that you should just get over it - unless you have asthma or know someone who has and suffers from attacks I don't think you have the right to judge whether this is a true FML. Also - have you never left something important behind before? Hope you feel better now though x
