Today, I got a letter in the mail telling me to report for jury duty. The day that I have to show up is the day of my wedding. FML

There are a million ways to get out of jury duty if push comes to shove just say you're racist...Even better if it's your own race so you got a little crazy going for you too haha

Ditch it. Wedding is more important

About 15 years ago I got a summons-told them I was currently involved in a deposition for a malpractice suit (I was). I must have gone way to the bottom of the list, because I haven't been called since lol.

Why'd you even bother opening the letter? If you "didn't get it" they can't really punish you for not showing up, now can they?

tell them you have misanthropy a psychiatric disorder that means you hate all people. Then mention since the person got arrested and had to go to court they are guilty anyway.

Or like everyone else suggests just defer it.

Just call them an tell them you're getting married. They'll send you a new date.

it's time to have a serious talk with the pain you are marrying.

Why does he have to have a "serious talk with the pain" he marrying? Did the bride come up with some elaborate scheme to make OP have jury duty on their wedding day? When he is busy at jury duty, she will blow up the court house, collect the large insurance policy she has on him, and marry his twin brother. Disclaimer: I watch way too many telenovelas.

Jury duty is so easy to get out of. I've been asked to report for it multiple times, none of which I could attend because I'm the sole provider for my family. On your letter there is an option to write back informing them why you can't make it, in sure your wedding day is good enough reason as any.

Yeah just say to them "my wedding is on the day I have jury duty and I can't just reschedule it" Surely they will make an exception since it's supposed to be the happiest day of your life. Weddings also aren't too cheap just saying

All you have to do is call them and ask to post pone it
