In some cultures, people keep a cricket in the home for luck. I guess it doesn't work if you keep it any closer.
My room mate had a spider crawl into a cut on his scalp and lay eggs... we wondered why it took so long to heal and we went to the doctor to get it checked, lo and behold... gross
