Why are there so many YDI's? You guys don't know the story behind why he put his son up for adoption. Maybe he was young, and he and the mother couldn't support the baby. Maybe the mom ditched the dad. She isn't in the FML. Don't jump to conclusions.

Wow at these comments. I find it really funny that in any abortion debate the first thing someone says is to give the child up for adoption. But when someone actually did that now he is in the wrong? You do not know the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. If you feel that you can not provide for your child (financially, emotionally, etc) then the best thing to do is to give it up to someone who can.

no one HAS to put their child up for adoption. sex is a choice, if you get pregnant you deal with the consequences which could be- abortion or if your pro life you can keep it.

YDI. Adoption has consequences, and if you really wanted to make amends, you shouldn't have waited over twenty years.

Don't give up/ if you really want to make amends, show him you care. And understand why he hit you. His emotional life had to have been pretty rough being adopted. Of course he has hard feelings. But keep at it, he'll wonder why the heck your still trying after he was such a prick (whether he thinks u deserve it or not) and he'll realize your serioua
