Aaahhh, crap, 40 cent not 40 per cent!! I feel so silly now. :/ Geez, that's mean. :(
What a cheap prick. 15% for a good job, and 10% at the very least. Douche bag, whoever you are, if you read this out of coincidence, I hope you get kicked in the nuts.
People people people. What servers make and all that is irreverent. You're tipping them because they waited on you, checked in on you, etc. I'm a big tipper, so I'm not taking a stand against tipping, but if I get takeout, I'm not tipping. As has been mentioned before, what you did for me there isn't any different than what the person at McDonalds did. Why even stop at food? The cashier at Target totaled my order, took my money, and then bagged my items. Would you tip them? Do you really expect people to be aware of, inquire about, or give a crap, if you make server wages or cook/cashier wages? The tasks you perform for me don't change either way. You're essentially saying that if the manager rings me up and everything else it should be one price, but if you to it, it should cost me an extra $5+, and on top of that, that I'm a jerk for not psychically knowing what you make? If you make sub min wage server money, and are put on take out, I'd suggest taking that up with your place of employment, because THAT'S the problem. You're being paid a wage based on the understanding you'll be placed in a "tippable" position, and you're not being placed there.
Here's the rest of your tip — don't expect good tips. Don't expect it to always be there, simply because it won't.
I have never tipped on take out orders.. only waitresses and delivery. I used to work at a chinese restaurant where I waitressed and made up take out orders, I never got tipped for take out orders, and I never expected it either...That's like tipping someone at McD's... it just doesn't happen. Big deal, you put my food in a bag... but I came to pick it up...maybe you should tip ME.
"...maybe you should tip ME." Best comment ever. I completely agree :)
tip your waiters and hairstylist!! but seriously why take the time to tip .40 cents that person is asswhole
if you want a tip, do a decent job. If your a shitty server I'm not going to tip you at all. Also, you shouldn't be tipped for takeout, it's ******* takeout. Should we tip people at burgerking and mcdonald? **** no. Also, to all the waitors/waitresses complaining about not being tipped, how about you find another job. it's not my fault that you aren't intelligent enough to work somewhere that atleast pays minimum wage.
YDI: You should not get a tip for putting someones food in a bag. If that was the case then I should tip every time I go to McDonalds.Or you probably did something that made you deserve a crappy tip. People that should get Tips: Waiters/Waitresses Taxi Driver's Busboy's Stripper's Prostitute's (Only if its exceptional service) Card Dealers People who dont get tips Bartender's (Unless they have nice cleavage) Crappy Waiters/waitresses ( You dont refill my drink you dont get shit) Ugly stripper's Smelly Prostitute's Poeple who put your food in a bag Now maybe if you took my food to my car, Followed me to my destination, and served the food then you would deserve a tip.
Actually I get great service when I go places. Its simple. Do your job and you get a good tip. Slack off and you dont get shit...

who the hell tips takeout? no one.
most people i know don't leave tips when they order food to go, i guess coz most of the work put into it was done by the cooks, not the waiter/waitress. or something like that.
