Today, I was waitressing for a huge family. Their bill was $750. Excited about the tip, I was shocked to see only $0.50. As they were leaving, I threw the two whole quarters at their heads. Guess who also got fired today. FML

they probably should've left a better tip, but at the same time you can't throw quarters at a customers head and not expect to be fired.

For them to leave only 50 cents it was clearly as an insult to the waitress imo.

You would fit in great at my employer

Just because one is in a service industry doesn't make one a servant.

I would say that was worth it.

Yeah you don't do that to customers. Maybe working with customers isn't for you until you learn how to treat them

isnt it automatic 15% charge already added in there bill when its more than 6 customers in one bill?

Some people are just getting by. As far as you know this meal could have caused some serious financial strain. On top of that, perhaps you provided poor service, which doesn't seem too unlikely considering how you behaved. Take this as a lesson. Lower your expectations because people get what they DESERVE.

You DESERVED to be fired, simple. No matter if the customers were rude or if you felt they should have left a decent tip, there is no excuse to throw things at them. Sure, as long as you did a good job they should have left something, though 10-15% is only a guideline anyway. Tipping has always been a custom, not a rule. If you do well you deserve a little extra for your attitude and service, but it is NOT owed to you. I don't know how it is in all states, and even less about the rest of the world, but in Washington they HAVE to pay you the minimum wage, and tips DO NOT count towards that.

I was a server at the Cracker Barrel for about 2 years, I understand what it feels like to get a big table and get stiffed. However I do think you should learn to take the good with the bad. Something a lot of people don't know is most servers, at least here in east TN, only make 2.13 an hour. They depend on their tips to make a living. Its not so much a bonus for them but their lively hood. I'm sorry op for your bad luck in the tip lottery, but that doesn't excuse your behavior and had I been your manager I would have fired you as well.
