Today, I was working at a donation center. I was having a really rough day, so my fiancée dropped me off some cookies. At the end of my shift, the manager told me I couldn't take them home because they were donated and therefore they were "company property." FML

You'd think people that work in donation centers would be nicer than that. FML OP

You're working at a donation centre, therefore you volunteer, right? Well if that's the case you have nothing to lose by telling him to stick it and walking out.

If someone came between me and my cookies, they would not walk away from that situation. cookies are some serious shit.

She just wanted your cookies for herself

The manager likely plans to take them himself.

Donation centers definitely don't take homemade items. If they get someone offering that, they have to turn them away. If your fiancee's cookies were homemade, then your manager flat out lied to you and is a total butt. If they were boxed, then they could at least be used as donations, but your manager is STILL a total butt for taking your cookies away from you. Hope you were able to get something sweet to nibble on anyway. :(

They obviously were not donated, it would be like forgetting your lunch having your fiancé drop it off and then your boss telling you, you couldn't eat it because it was donated.

Don't do anything dramatic. Just ignore it and take home what you can of them anyway when it's time. Manager can't really do anything anyway -- opened food items aren't allowable donations.

I have a feeling those cookies were donated to your manager's greedy gut.
