Okay, there is two types of groping. Do you mean "groping" in a sexual way or "groping" in a phsyical way, like holding hands, hugging, etc?

Only different definitions: "date" for a boy: preparation to get each other closer (either known for romance or, more likely, bodily). "date" for a girl: romantic dinner, ideal with candles, red wine, and expensive food. Either to improve inferiority complex with a good looking stranger, or as kind of foreplay with someone they're (almost) together already. (btw, does anyone else miss a "so what?" vote button?)
