Shouldn't have an iPhone in high school, in my opinion.
When I was in high school, the teachers always confiscated phones. A friend was using her phone during lunch break & the Deputy Principal confiscated it. It can depend on the school though. But really, if you are using your phone during class & it's not an emergency, it's your own fault if it gets taken. You're there to learn, not text your friends & play games. If I had an iPhone I wouldn't have taken it to school with me. As for the whole privacy thing, most phones nowadays do have the option of a lock screen, & iPhones certainly do.
Well I guess the iPhone is 'history' now. /:
Serves you right for getting such a overpriced piece of shit.
Well, ydi for using it during class, but she also should have been more careful with it. If you have more understanding parents, have them talk to the teacher about it, or talk to her yourself.
i had a similar situation. my teacher confiscated my blackberry, n she left it on her desk, when a student came up to ask her a question, they swipped it without her knowning. My mom went to the school and told them to own up for the money cuz when she took it into her hands it than became her responcibility. It doesnt matter if your school has a no cell phone policy like mine does or not, she should have sent u to ur locker to put it away, cuz as soon as its in her hands its than under her care. Send ur school the bill to get it fixed.
Okay, in my school, if a teacher sees the outline of a phone in your backpack, they can take it away. However, there are policies in schools now, hoping to advance the use of technology in the schools, where students may use their smartphones or other devices that hook up to the web. Mistakes happen, my mom texts me in class and my phone lights up in my pocket, teachers freak out. You don't know the full extent of the op's situation. And the rules are meant to be broken, especially at school- where it's practically prison with worse food. The teacher who dropped the phone does have to pay for it.
And a teacher to pay for it. But what were you doing with your iPhone in class anyway?

Make sure she pays for that
You probably could make her pay for it. Sure you weren't supposed to be using it in class, but that deserved confiscating, not BREAKING. (Also don't they have cases and stuff that you can get so that kind of shit doesn't happen? Otter box or something?)
