There are companies out there which do data recovery for as low as 250$. Just google data recovery and u will be able to call them.
Screw paying $250. Programs like File Scavenger cost $70 and can do just as good a job. It's only for very tricky cases where the data has been overwritten that I'd recommend a data recovery company.
Don't touch that computer! Your files may still be recoverable. Bring it to someone who has recovery software.
Low blow, mate.
Call the cops and file a report. If she was threatening you on her way out, she can have Domestic Violence charges filed against her.
Wikihow is your friend. Failing that, if you pay to get it recovered, try to get either her to paying or re compensated for the cost. As someone doing a thesis as well, I have the highest sympathy for you!
No copies at all? Dropbox? It has a last version back up mode!
if it cant recover I am pretty sure it is possible for you to sue. Destruction of property
should have used the cloud
Now idk how it is on your end, but if you started the project in a previous time where you had to update your computer, perhaps try to restore your computer to a certain time and possibly your deleted files would be recovered? (If you feel risky try it, but I'd highly recommend someone who can actually recover lost files)

I'm sure you could find a way to sue her sorry ass. I'm sorry op but women like this need to grow the **** up or stay single and not procreate.
Well at least she's gone now.
